Spring is finally here, with a breath of fresh air AND Glossy Newsstand is back to work, with changes.
Everyone who visits Glossy Newsstand knows that all you can see here are just images, covers and editorials, plus ad campaigns. I have always tried to be quick, to be the first one who posts exclusive previews of fashion magazines. On Fashion Spot forums, I was known for my exclusive posts, I was one of the member who was spending hours and bit more to find all the latest magazine covers, editorials and ad campaigns. After leaving (actually I was banned from the site) tFS I started my blog and I do think that I managed to create one good project - Glossy Newsstand, all my 2 MILLION (and counting) views in gives me the reason to say this. I am thankful of everyone who supported me, all my visitors and Twitter followers. It has been a great time, great opportunity for me. I am still happy with the results that Glossy Newsstand achieved.
No, I am not going to stop the Glossy Newsstand, I just want to change things here because of changes in my life. You probably noticed that I'm not that quick anymore, I try to post updates as soon as possible but the time period is not same, I mean I still have some exclusives but not as many as in past. Because of my new job, I almost have no time for Glossy Newsstand - all the editing, finding only high quality images for the website is taking too much time and I decided to make Glossy Newsstand more personal. Since I still love fashion magazines and can not live without them, I will continue posting covers of major fashion magazines, sometimes with my own opinions and descriptions. I also want to share major fashion news with my views, as for editorials, I think there are plenty of websites who post editorials in high quality and they are doing great job, so I will only share eds (or some images of editorials) that will be truly exceptional. I wanna say that I do not have professional education in fashion, and I will try to simply express my opinions, without trying to hard. Oh, one more thing, until I forgot, I have to say sorry for my English, it is not my first or second language, don't judge me too much for this.
On more personal side, I live in city Tbilisi, country Georgia (that many of you may have not heard at all). I don't (can't...yet) wear major brands, dressing like normal 22 year old boy would be dressing. Currently studying on Master degree as a PR and Communications Manager, already got Bachelor degree in a General Business Management. I love fashion magazines, always follow latest ad campaigns - overall print fashion, but I am interested fashion in general, I love reading all about fashion brands (history, development and also interested in their business data). I have never attended any of the fashion show abroad, in major fashion weeks (I believe everything has its' time).
So, I mentioned changes in my life. Last summer, I was appointed as a brand manager of new Georgian fashion brand ANOUKI. Yes, it may sound quite funny, a 22 year old guy, with no professional education in fashion as a brand manager of company? I don't wanna sound ambitious, I do think I'm doing quite OK. Head designer of the brand ANOUKI, Anouki Areshidze trusted me, absolutely unknown person to her. To be honest, I found her myself, I sent email, told about myself and mentioned my website, my collaborations (one of them with LOVE Magazine and fabulous woman Katie Grand) and surprisingly I got the reply that she was starting her own fashion line and she would like to try working with me. From the beginning I had to work for the website and social media pages of the brand but soon, after talking with designer, she told me I could be the manager of the newly-born brand. It's been like a 6 months already in this position and what we managed is to open one store, show the collection in Kiev (where we had top-model of the moment Irina Shayk, who closed show), release several lookbooks and send pieces of ANOUKI's collection in various multi-brand stores of neighbour countries. Fashion industry (honestly, I would not call it industry at the moment, sounds too ambitious) in our country is in the process of development and many designers still don't follow rules of worldwide fashion industry, we are trying to have a whole new standard among fashion designers, in every aspect of brands' development, and I noticed that few of the Georgian designers changed their strategies after we appeared on the scene. What's most important our customers are happy with design, quality and high standard.
That's all for now, I am updating website with all the missing covers and ad campaigns that I did not share with you last month, I hope at least some of you will follow me here and support me.
One of the reasons, why my website was down for 2 months also was the site hosting and content allowance amount fee. Having such web does require a money, so I will gladly meet any kind of ads on my website, in very minor prices. Just to save the page.
Thank you everyone.
